GJCDC was organized on June 26, 2005. It was established to support the development and revitalization of Northeast Jacksonville's communities through various community services, such as education, job training, mentoring, healthcare, entrepreneurial development, and other social programs.

GJCDC is undergoing a reorganization to better serve our Northeast Jacksonville communities. It is projected to be fully operational by January 2025.
